The K.L.E.O. Method

Core Philosophy

Knowledge is Constructed, Not Delivered.

At KLEO Tutoring, we believe that learning is fun and feels natural. The first step in recovering the landscape of learning is stoking the fire of curiosity.

We meet students where they are. Instead of imposing a rigid curriculum, we help learners actively construct knowledge in a way that works uniquely for them. Our role is not to simply deliver information, but to facilitate discovery. Every student can use extra support along the educational pathway, and we are committed to providing that empowering support.

Our Instructional Method: The K.L.E.O. Approach

Our highly effective, structured approach is scaffolded using the proprietary Knowledge, Link, Extend, and Opportunity (K.L.E.O.) method.

We utilize the Socratic Questioning method and a focus on Bloom’s Taxonomy to build deep comprehension in every session. This process naturally helps students:

  • Connect with and broaden their background knowledge.
  • Practice strong reasoning and essential practical skills.
  • Achieve profound understanding in literacy, literature, and writing.

My journey into literacy education is fueled by a commitment to curiosity and effective learning. I graduated from The College of Charleston (B.A. in English Literature) and Clemson University (Post-Baccalaureate in English Secondary Education).

Success requires taking risks. It’s important to create a safe space for students to read and write, especially if they have faced past failures. By using humor and play, students can rediscover their curiosity and achieve their potential.

Communication skills grow when learners take deep dives into reading good literature and learning the skills of analysis.

For some students, test prep is essential. To teach specific question types and vocabulary without losing students’ attention, it is included in short warm-ups and cool-downs during each hour session,.
