Online Tutoring and Workshops for Learners
Stoking the fire of curiosity is the first step in learning readiness. Literacy and learning should be fun and feel natural. I meet students where they are and help them construct knowledge in a way that works for them. At K.L.E.O. tutoring, knowledge is actively constructed by learners, not delivered by teachers. I scaffold instruction using the Knowledge, Link, Extend, and Opportunity method. Every student can use extra support along the educational pathway.
Risk-taking and Writing
Success involves taking risks. Fostering an environment where students feel safe to write is essential if they have experienced traumatic failure in the classroom. Through humor and play during writing, learners can return to the sense of curiosity that will allow them to reach their potential.
Exploring Language Arts
Communication skills grow when learners take deep dives into reading good literature and learning the skills of analysis.
Target Practice and Test Prep
For some students, the need for “test prep” is real. In order to teach “how to answer this question type” without students boring holes into their desks, it is taught in short, discrete warm ups and cool downs whenever appropriate (but at least once or twice) in a give hour session.
